RIEJU (1949 – PRESENTE)

Rieju is the only historic Spanish brand that remains active and independent today. Founded in 1934 by Luis Riera and Jaime Juanola, the company initially focused on bicycle production. In 1949, they presented their first motorised bicycle, and in 1953 they made a significant leap with the Rieju 175, which in 1956 was priced at 27,500 pesetas (approximately €9,200 today). That same year, Rieju diversified its range with two distinctive models: the Isard scooter and the 125 Sport. However, fierce competition from Vespa and Lambretta, along with its daring design, hindered sales growth.
