A comienzos de los años 70, el mundo estaba cambiando rápidamente: el hombre ya había pisado la Luna, los Beatles se habían separado y la guerra de Vietnam parecía interminable. En España, el nivel de vida mejoraba, los coches se hacían más accesibles y la moto dejaba de ser un medio de transporte diario para convertirse en una fuente de ocio y diversión.
En este contexto, Montesa vio una oportunidad única: ¿por qué no crear una moto para que los niños pudieran acompañar a sus padres en sus aventuras? Así nació la Montesa Cota 25, la primera motocicleta de trial infantil realmente significativa. Inspirada en la revolucionaria Cota 247, mantenía su esencia con detalles innovadores como los reposapiés plegables y un diseño compacto que facilitaba el aprendizaje sin riesgos.
Sus ruedas de 16” y 15” permitieron que generaciones enteras de niños descubrieran su pasión por el trial. Produciéndose hasta los años 80, la Cota 25 tuvo versiones con cambio automático (Cota 25 A) y con embrague y tres marchas (Cota 25 C), convirtiéndose en un verdadero icono de las motos infantiles.

In Spain, living standards were improving, cars were becoming more accessible, and motorcycles were shifting from a daily means of transport to a source of leisure and fun.
Against this backdrop, Montesa saw a unique opportunity: why not create a motorcycle for children to ride alongside their parents? Thus, the Montesa Cota 25 was born—the first truly significant children’s trial bike. Inspired by the revolutionary Cota 247, it retained its essence while incorporating innovative features such as foldable footpegs and a compact design that made learning safe and easy.
With its 16” and 15” wheels, entire generations of children discovered their passion for trial riding. Manufactured until the 1980s, the Cota 25 was available in versions with an automatic gearbox (Cota 25 A) and a clutch with three gears (Cota 25 C), cementing its place as an iconic children’s motorcycle.
