Mi amigo Carlos Mas era ya el protagonista del nacional de TT cuando yo llegué, pero mis predecesoras, con las que Carlos llevaba años ganando, estaban desfasadas y en casa quedaban pocos medios. Sobre aquellas, montaron un monoamortiguador y algunas mejoras, y así conseguí defender el título un par de años más frente a todas esas jovenzuelas que llegaban cargadas de tecnología.
My friend Carlos Mas was already the star of the national TT championship when I arrived. However, my predecessors, with whom Carlos had been winning for years, were outdated, and resources at home were scarce. They fitted a monoshock and a few improvements to those older models, and with that, I managed to defend the title for a couple more years, holding my ground against all those young rivals loaded with the latest technology.
