La historia de la moto española no ha terminado, ni mucho menos. Aunque los años dorados de los 60 y 70 quedaron atrás y la industria nacional no supo o no pudo adaptarse a tiempo, España ha seguido siendo cuna de emprendedores, nuevas ideas y proyectos innovadores en el mundo de las dos ruedas.
En los años 80, nació GasGas, una marca que surgió de la pasión por la competición. Su origen se encuentra en un concesionario Bultaco, fundado por dos de sus antiguos pilotos: Narcís Casas y José María Pibernat. Tras el cierre de Bultaco, mientras vendían motocicletas de off-road de otras marcas, decidieron crear sus propias motos con la ayuda del talentoso preparador Paxau.
Hoy, la fábrica de GasGas forma parte del mismo grupo austríaco que KTM, pero mantiene su esencia y continúa fabricando en España sus legendarias motos de trial, fieles a su legado. Y es precisamente con estos emblemáticos colores rojos y con el ADN español de la marca que se ha impulsado uno de los proyectos más ilusionantes para el motocross nacional: ver a nuestro mejor piloto de todos los tiempos, Jorge Prado, conquistar el Campeonato del Mundo con una marca de origen español.
The story of Spanish motorcycling is far from over. Although the golden years of the 1960s and 70s have passed, and the national industry struggled to adapt, Spain has continued to produce entrepreneurs, new ideas, and exciting projects in the world of motorbikes.
During the 1980s, GasGas was born—a brand that emerged from a deep passion for competition. Its roots can be traced back to a Bultaco dealership, founded by two of the brand’s former riders: Narcís Casas and José María Pibernat. After Bultaco’s closure, they continued selling off-road motorcycles from other manufacturers, but with the support of the brilliant tuner Paxau, they decided to create their own bikes.
Today, GasGas is part of the same Austrian group as KTM, yet it remains true to its heritage, continuing to manufacture its legendary trial motorcycles in Spain. And it is precisely with these iconic red colours and the Spanish DNA of the brand that one of the most exciting projects in national motocross has taken shape: watching Jorge Prado, our greatest rider of all time, claim the World Championship with a brand of Spanish origin.
